Lynn, I did some more shooting yesterday evening. I
tried your bullet in my stainless Ruger Bisley and tried 4 different
powders. Your suggested load of 9.5 grains of Unique gave the best
groups by far. I had my 2x scope attached and was shooting from the
bench with a sandbag rest. My eyes just will not focus very well any
more on the open sights so for load development purposes I attached the
scope. My target was at 45 yards from the bench. Here are photos of a
five-shot group I shot with the 9.5 grs of Unique. I plan to do a bit
more testing but it sure looks great at this point.
By the way, I used your 290 Keith bullet with 18 grains
of 2400 to kill a rockchuck at about 75 yards with my Ruger Bisley 45
Colt with open sights. This load seems to be even more accurate in my
gun overall than the 9.5 grains of Unique. I was confident enough to try
the shot, but admit I was a bit surprised that I hit it.
Great bullets!

at .452 with a BHN of 12]
